Have a cuppa with the Alzheimers Society

THE Causeway Alzheimers Society is holding a coffee and information morning in Coleraine Methodist Church, Queen Street, Coleraine, on Saturday, June 19 from 10am until 2pm.

The Society is using ‘Remember the Person’ as its theme for this year’s Alzheimer’s Awareness week.

Adrian Friel, Dementia Support Manager for the Society, explained that the theme has a very strong message behind it. “Someone diagnosed with dementia can become depersonalised, they may become a statistic and they may loss their individuality.

“This year we at the Alzheimers Society are challenging these concepts. These are people with an illness but they can still enjoy life, they can still laugh. People with dementia are still people after all.”
