PSNI Wildlife Officer Marianne Breen said: “Police captured a raccoon in Ballycastle earlier today after a member of the public called to say that she had spotted the animal in her car port.”

‘Rab’ became an internet sensation back in September after a local resident submitted a video of the elusive raccoon rummaging on their garage roof.

He’s been spotted a number of times but now it looks like the fury fugitive has finally been caught.

Officer Breen added: “I believe it is probably “Rab”, the raccoon that was reported missing from Ballymena back in September. The USPCA are caring for the raccoon at present until he can be returned to his owner.”
