Have you got your passport to the MAC?

The MAC in partnership with Ulster Bank has launched an innovative new scheme to help Ballymoney primary schools get involved in the arts.

‘Passport to the MAC’ enables schools, across Northern Ireland, to avail of free transport to the MAC’s Christmas show at the Belfast city centre venue. The project is funded by Arts & Business NI, allowing the MAC and Ulster Bank to support the next generation of budding artists.

Clare Lawlor, Learning & Participation officer at the MAC said, “We’ve talked to lots of teachers across the country and know how difficult it can be to cover the costs of getting out of the classroom, so we’ve created Passport. Each time your school visits the MAC simply show your Passport at Box Office to receive a stamp. Collect three and your school receives up to £350 worth of free bus travel subject to availability to our Christmas show, HATCH! Adventures of the Ugly Duck.

“There are lots of opportunities for schools to visit the MAC throughout the year or to get involved in outreach programmes. We are even giving schools their first stamp for free to get them started.

“Our Christmas show HATCH! officially launches next week but tickets are already available online and at the Box Office. We will have lots more information over the coming months about the show but what we can say at this stage is that ‘feathers will fly’ in this live show that pupils won’t want to miss”

Brona Whittaker, Arts Manager, Arts & Business NI said: “Arts & Business Northern Ireland is delighted to have supported the relationship between the MAC and the Ulster Bank through the Investment Programme. Through the programme A&B NI tries to encourage and inspire sustainable relationships and to maximise the benefits of business and the arts working together. We are especially excited that the Investment Programme has helped to develop the ‘Passport to the MAC’ scheme, a new initiative which will ensure more school children across Northern Ireland have the opportunity to access the arts.”
