Have your say on dog control

Pet owners are being given the chance until April 4 to have their say on the latest draft Dog Control Orders being proposed for the borough.

As part of its consultation on six further draft Dog Control Orders, Council has organised a series of drop-in sessions with one taking place at Ardeevin on Wednesday, March 9, from 5-9pm. Detailed maps which relate to the proposals can also be viewed during the course of the consultation period at council premises including The Braid.

The additional draft proposals now proposed include four Dogs on Leads Orders requiring that dogs be kept on a lead of no more than 1.8 metres (6 feet) in length whilst in designated areas and relating to the People’s Park in Ballymena, Larne Town Park, Marine Gardens in Carrickfergus and also Carnfunnock Country Park ‘at proposed times’.

The others are - the Dogs Exclusion (Children’s Play Parks) which sets out to exclude dogs from Children’s Play Parks and Dogs Exclusion (People’s Park) sets out to exclude dogs from designated areas of People’s Park.
