Hawthorns Adult Centre support

A fundraising Carrickfergus family has been thanked for its support of Hawthorns Adult Centre.

The Ellis Street centre is for adults with learning difficulties and physical disabilities.

The Gibson family, whose son Robert attends the unit, organised a series of events to raise money to provide a multi-use wheelchair swing for the use of all the members in Hawthorns.

A total of £2,474 was raised after one member of the family took part in the Belfast Marathon.

Meanwhile, Tesco Carrickfergus gave permission for a bag packing day and, finally, the family organised a night of entertainment in the Buffs (RAOB) Club in Carrickfergus.

Marc Carey, manager of Hawthorns Adult Centre, extended thanks all parties concerned for their kindness.
