Headliners in the news at battle of bands

LARNE'S InverMusic hosted a battle of the bands competition to raise funds for the new radio station to be launched this summer.

The winning band, Headlines Make Heroes, won 50 and a recording deal with InverMusic, to the delight of band members Jordan Mills, Scott Ross, Jordan Hamill and Conor McKillion.

Comperes Jonathan McNeil and Carolyn Humphreys introduced the first band on stage, The Stonemasons (Pdraig Kerr, Connor McCann and Malachy McCaffery) who were placed sixth in the competition.

One Too Many (Jordan McKinley, Paul Ferguson and Zach Weatherhead) playing such songs as Rage Against The Machine’s Killing In The Name Of ... were fifth.

In joint third-place were I stand Corrected (Jamie Magee, Philip Duff, Alex Verghese and Aaron Copeland) who performed a selection of original songs; and instrumental group Whales (Alistair Spence, Chris Hall, David Hendren and Jonathan Black).

The runners-up were Jukebox Annie, who played an entirely original set list.

A Battle of the Bands CD is to go on sale online at the InverRadio website at a later time. The next Inver Music fundraising event will be held later this month.
