Ballymena’s long-awaited new multi-million pound Health and Care Centre at the Braid Valley Hospital site looks set to open in January.

A Department of Health spokesman told The Times: “Work on the development of the new £25m Health and Care Centre in Ballymena is progressing well and it is anticipated the facility will open in spring, 2016.

“The Centre will provide GP Practices and a mix of locally accessible and acute, primary and community care services, including, among other things, diagnostic services such as x-ray; district nursing and community nurse specialist services; physiotherapy and occupational therapy services.”

Meanwhile, notices have been posted within some GP surgeries currently located in the adjacent Ballymena Health Centre, advising patients that they will be moving as early as January 18 to the new state-of-the-art Health & Social Care Centre on which work started back in 2012.
