The awards are open to all individuals affected by or associated with stroke throughout Northern Ireland and will take place on Thursday 12 May 2016. Nominees from each category will also go forward to represent Northern Ireland at the Stroke Association’s ‘UK Life After Stroke Awards’ next year.

Previous winners of the Northern Ireland Stroke Awards ranged from Kate Gorman who, despite having a stroke at the age of 19, is now an active Stroke Association volunteer, to the amazing efforts of stroke survivor Raymond Kelly and his friends who raised thousands of pounds through the fantastic 575 Stroke Challenge, cycling 500 miles and climbing 7 mountain peaks in just 5 days!

Northern Ireland Director, Tom Richardson says;

“Every day through our work in Northern Ireland, we witness some amazing people working to overcome the effects of stroke. 2016 marks the 4th Northern Ireland Life After Stroke Awards which recognises and celebrates the courage and determination of those affected by stroke. So please nominate your stroke hero now!”
