Hear Bank of England agent at free seminar

Local businesses are invited to a free breakfast seminar at Willowbank Business Park on Friday, March 18, sponsored by Mid and East Antrim Borough Council and hosted by LEDCOM, to hear about economic trends and how these are likely to impact on the local economy.

The speaker will be Gillian Anderson, from Bank of England. Founded in 1694, the Bank of England is the central bank of the United Kingdom. It has 12 agents based around the UK, whose primary role is to assess economic and financial conditions affecting businesses in their area.

Gillian joined the bank when the Northern Ireland Agency was established in November, 1999 and is a Deputy Agent responsible for gathering and analysing economic intelligence on the local retail and housing sectors.

Born and raised in Belfast, Gillian has a BA (Hons) in Business Studies from the University of Ulster and a Diploma in Economics from the Open University.

Chair of Larne Development Forum, Ald Maureen Morrow urged local businesses to attend. She said: “The local economy will be impacted by trends in interest rates, currency strength, imports and exports, and employment creation.

“There is also uncertainty concerning any economic impact that might follow the result of the forthcoming European referendum. We are delighted that Gillian will share her insights on the economic trends that are likely to impact on businesses in this region.”
