Heather's '˜swim legacy' lives on following Oxford talk

Tudor Hall School, in Oxford, recently invited Heather Clatworthy to present a talk on her successful venture last year when she fulfilled her childhood dream and became the first Irish and second ever person in history to swim from Moville in County Donegal to Portstewart following in the steps of the world famous swimmer Mercedes Gleitze.

Lucy Keyte Director of Studies, said “The impact of the talk on the Swim for Portstewart has been extraordinary.

“Her words and images really brought the story to life, and the key messages of resilience and perseverance shone through.

“Heather is a fantastic example of what can be achieved through dedication and hard work.”

The school made a generous donation to the Portstewart Outdoor Recreation Fund and the RNLI Portstrush branch, both of which Heather raised money for during her swim.

The Portstewart Outdoor Recreation Fund is available for groups offering activities to people of all ages, physical and mental abilities to try something new, in Portstewart and is administered by Outdoor Recreation NI. Heather completed the 13 miles swim in July last year.
