Heavy flooding in Lurgan and Craigavon leaves some roads impassable

Sandbags are being used by residents in parts of north Armagh as flooding closes several roads.

SDLP Cllr Declan McAlinden said there is flooding on the Annesborough Road in Lurgan and urged people to approach with care.

Residents also reported flooding in the Meadowbrook area of Craigavon where sandbags have been used to stem the flow into people’s homes.

Sinn Fein Cllr Catherine Nelson said she is currently dealing with residents who are suffering from flooding.

She said: “Sinn Féin reps are dealing with flooding right across the Borough including on main roads.”

The Drumgask Road in Craigavon is also heavily flooded.

Ulster Unionist Cllr Gareth Wilson said: “Please drive with extreme care a lot of water running off fields on to roads - Hamiltonsbawn/Markethill Road particularly bad and many other roads.”

The River Callan in Armagh also burst its banks leaving many roads impassable.
