Heavy rain and gales warning for Mid Ulster

Mid Ulster is expected to be lashed by gale force winds and heavy rain later today...and its to be cool.

Unable to get his umbrella up in time to block a large wave , a waiting bus passenger feels the full force of the wintery weather .. 

The Coast road from Warrenpoint to Rostrevor was battered with gail force winds  and heavy rain on Saturday afternoon  causing waves to crash over onto the main road . 


A yellow warning for heavy rain had already been put in place by the Met Office affecting counties Down, Antrim and Armagh lasting overnight. There is a yellow warning for rain, snow and wind on Saturday.

The Met Office has issued a weather warning for winds of up to 60mph, with possible disruption to transport in places.

The yellow weather warming comes into effect at 4pm on Monday.

Patchy, light, rain spreading in this morning, before turning persistent and occasionally heavy this afternoon.

Strong to gale force winds, locally severe gale around the North Channel. Maximum temperature 12C.

Persistent rain, heavy at times, clearing during this evening. Clearer spells then developing overnight but some further outbreaks of rain may affect the far north. Strong to gale force winds. Minimum temperature 5C.
