Help for Coleraine cancer patients at Macmillan course

CANCER patients in the Coleraine and surrounding areas are being encouraged to take part in a free six week course that can make a real difference in helping them through their cancer journey.

The six-week course called ‘New Perspectives’ is delivered by Macmillan Cancer Support. The course is run by people who have had personal experience of cancer themselves.

The sessions will help cancer patients manage their symptoms better, offer advice on diet, dealing with emotions, managing tiredness and pain and provide tips on how to communicate with doctors, health workers and family and friends.

New Perspectives tutors delivering the course say: “It’s an invaluable course that encourages people to make practical and positive steps forward.

“Bringing people together who have gone through similar experiences is a very positive and powerful way of helping people who have been diagnosed with cancer regain their confidence.”

The course will begin in November at The Lodge Hotel, Coleraine. The course will run for six weekly session of 2½ hours.
