Help for those caring for someone with dementia

THE Alzheimer’s Society has organised an information programme over the next three weeks in Lisburn to benefit carers and people with dementia.

It will help to increase the understanding of the general public and help carers, friends and family who are living with a loved one who has dementia.

Everyone is very welcome to attend, to hear the professional speakers and to benefit from a question and answer session at the end of each session.

Then on March 1 a Legal and Financial Information evening will take place with Valerie Martin, Office of Care and Protection.

Before that, on February 15 there will be a Drop In Memory Information and Education Clinic.

These operate on the first Wednesday of each month from 2pm – 4pm at Lagan Valley Hospital, in the old Department of Psychiatry. There is a drop-in resource for carers and people diagnosed with dementia to ask any questions they may have and to get information and advice straightaway.

No appointment is necessary and the clinic will be staffed by two health professionals and Charlotte Moore, Dementia Support Worker from the Alzheimer’s Society.
