Help is at hand for those out of work

Larne Development Forum, the economic development partnership of Larne Borough Council, has launched an updated leaflet detailing support organisations in Larne who can provide support to individuals who are out of work.

Sometimes the range of options available to people who are unemployed can be confusing. The leaflet is an attempt to clarify the main choices available by providing information and contact details in relation to local support organisations.

Basic information is supplied concerning topics jobs and benefits, steps to work, further education, self employment, apprenticeships, training for success, volunteering, job-hunting and general advice.

The leaflet has been circulated to various public places throughout the Larne borough and should be easily accessible.

The information on the leaflet is also available on the websites of both Larne Borough Council and LEDCOM and will be regularly updated to reflect any changes in local provision.

Commenting on the leaflet following the recent launch, Councillor Martin Wilson, chair of Larne Development Forum, said:

“We want to make it as easy as possible for local people who are out of work to find out vital information about the choices and options available to them in order to help them towards a positive outcome. We trust that the leaflet is a real source of help to people at this time of economic uncertainty.”
