Hen house plans take flight

Four separate poultry unit proposals have been approved by Mid & East Antrim Council’s Planning Committee.

Members have agreed recommendations by planners to approve the following four proposals by separate applicants, subject to attached conditions. They were: An application by J.A & T.A. McKendry for a free range laying unit for 8000 birds at a site 70m West of 22 Carclinty Road.

A proposal by Mr & Mrs P. Gardiner for a free range laying unit for 16,000 hens on a site approx. 186m SE of 81 Drumagrove Road, Clough, with new access on to Drumagrove Road, concrete apron and meal silos with associated landscaping.

A proposal by L McMaster for a free range poultry unit for up to 16,000 hens, new access on to Roughan Road, a concrete apron and meal silos with improved access arrangements on a site approximately 130m SE of 20 Roughan Road, Broughshane.

And, an application by J. McIlrath for a free range poultry unit for 16,000 hens at a site 90m SE of 35 Fenagh Road, Cullybackey, to include a concrete apron and meal silos plus improved access.
