Henderson’s extension approved for Mallusk

Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council’s Planning Committee has approved an extension and alteration to the Henderson’s site in Mallusk.

The company, which is located on a 9.5 hectare site at Hightown Avenue, proposed an extension and alterations to its office building, including design changes to the external appearance and amendment to the layout of its lorry wash, fuel point and parking area as well as associated site works.

A council report stated: “The proposed development is complimentary to the existing and adjoining uses and will not have any adverse impact on the surrounding businesses.”

The application proposed a fourth storey to the entirety of the office block, which it described as “comparable in scale with that previously approved in 2013.”

The report said it was “not considered that there will be any significant impact” upon the nearest residential properties at Sandyknowes Avenue and

Sandyholme Park.

Planning officer Barry Diamond made a recommendation to councillors to approve the application. This was proposed by cllr Beatty and seconded by cllr Duffy, and the application was approved.
