Gorman also admitted possession of cannabis resin on December 19 last year and was fined £100.

The court heard that on December 19 just before 11pm police stopped a car at Willowfield Crescent and there was a smell of cannabis. Gorman handed over a small amount of cannabis resin.

On February 25 police searched an address in Craigavon and herbal cannabis was found along with deal bags, scales and £300 in cash.

Gorman accepted possession of the drug but denied any intent to supply.

Analysis of text messages indicated he was involved in the supply of drugs.

A defence solicitor said he was an intelligent young man who went straight into employment from school but when this ended he started to smoke cannabis with friends.

He added this snowballed from selling items from his house such as play stations before selling on drugs.

Gorman accepted it was an extremely serious matter but asked the court to take into account the small amount concerned.

On the second offence the defendant had been out in a car with a friend and was offered some cannabis.

Deputy District Judge, Mr Sean O’Hare, said a pre-sentence report was positive.
