Hi-tech bins will text Council when full ...it’s not rubbish!

MOYLE Council hopes to install hi-tech bins which are operated by the power of the sun and automatically send a text to the Council when they are full, writes Nevin Farrell.

Moyle Council official Aidan McPeake said the plan is to install the bins at isolated areas of Moyle so that it cuts down on staff having to travel distances every so often to empty them.

The Council wants ten of the so-called ‘Big Belly Bins’ which can also compact their rubbish at a cost of £40,00 but £30,000 of that would be grant-aided but the Council is waiting to see if the funding bid is successful.
