High demand for houses in Magherafelt

Local estate agent Robert Winton said Magherafelt and its surrounding towns and villages are a “popular destination” for prospective home owners.

The average house price in Mid Ulster in Quarter Two was £128,457 - an increase of 14 per cent compared with the same quarter last year and a 3.2 per cent increase on Quarter One of this year.

“This increase from Quarter Two 2014 is across all housing types from terrace homes to detached houses and bungalows,” said Mr Winton. “This is primarily due to a high level of demand for housing in the Mid Ulster area.”

He believes the attraction of Magherafelt district for home buyers has many reasons. “It has outstanding schools, expanding employers, a vibrant retail destination and an excellent road infrastructure,” he said.

He pointed out that they were meeting people on a weekly basis from different areas of Northern Ireland who are keen to settle

down in this area.

“In terms of house sales, we are experiencing higher numbers of people viewing homes which Winton & Co are selling and many clients are achieving prices in excess of what they expected,”

he continued.

“However , over the past few months we have spoken to numerous ‘house hunters’ who are unable to find their ideal home and continuing to search. This includes first time buyers looking to get onto the property ladder and families seeking that larger house whether in an urban or rural setting. We require more houses to meet demand and are confident that our pro-active marketing campaign will secure buyers for our clients’ homes.”
