High-flyer to oversee 40 internationalconferences

FORMER Foyle and Londonderry College student Jillian Hay is set to manage almost 40 international conferences generating 82 million euro for the Irish economy in her role as senior event manager at The Convention Centre in Dublin's Docklands.

Jillian Hay was last year appointed to be the first senior event manager at the iconic building when it opens in September 2010.

More than 59,000 overseas delegates have already been confirmed for nearly 40 conferences at the 380 million euro centre.

Twenty-six Irish national conferences have also been booked for the venue as it prepares to open in September.

Ms Hay joins The Convention Centre from St George’s Bristol, a concert hall with a year round programme of classical, world, folk

and jazz events, where she was Head of Events and Operations.

A Law graduate of Trinity College Dublin, her background is in the arts with roles in music education, managing classical musicians and delivering a world class concert experience at St George’s Bristol.

In her new role she is tasked with devising The Convention Centre’s Operation Management Plan for the state-of-the-art new building and initiating the planning process for the eighteen conferences already confirmed at The Convention Centre, Dublin.
