High praise 
for volunteers

Ulster Unionist MLA Jo-Anne Dobson has praised the volunteers from the Craigavon neo-natal unit who braved the cold in Lurgan Park over Christmas to support the Premature baby charity Tiny Life.

Commenting Mrs Dobson said: “Tiny life do so much for families who experience of premature and vulnerable babies.

“It was heartwarming to see so many volunteers helping the charity on Saturday morning, braving the elements to help children experience a zip line challenge to visit Santa Claus.

“It was lovely to take the time to chat with them and to see the great work they were doing to support families with vulnerable babies. Well done everyone.”

TinyLife, formerly NIMBA, is Northern Ireland’s only premature and vulnerable baby charity based in Carryduff.

The charity provided a range of support services for families of premature and vulnerable babies, including hospital to home support and a Dad’s support group.

Last year, over 750 families benefitted from their services. Premature babies can be born at 24 weeks and survive, the smallest surviving baby born in Ireland was just 398g.

The charity is solely reliant on its own fundraising efforts to support the services provided.
