Highland dance grant

CAIRNCASTLE LOL Community and Cultural Group has been awarded a grant of £150 from Larne Council to help facilitate its annual Highland Dancing Classes.

The group had originally requested funding to the tune of £500 from the local authority for the classes, which cost over £1900 to run and have an income of £999.

While director of development Linda McCullough recommended that the council should award the sum of £150, she added that the group should be encouraged to become “totally self-sufficient” in the future and cover all costs through class fees.

In 2009, the council awarded a seeding grant of £500 to help set up the classes, following requests from the local community.
