Highly successful Health & Well-being exhibition

THE HUGE success of the recent Health and Well-being Community Fair at the Ballymena North Centre could see it held again in the town, Ballymena Lions Club president, Herbie Park says.

The event was organised by the Club in partnership with Ballymena Inter-Ethnic Forum and Dunclug Partnership who have this week confirmed its success both in terms of participation - by a staggering 46 exhibitors - and the dozens of people who attended, including many inter-ethnic group members, senior citizens and other borough residents.

In declaring the Fair ‘open’, Dr Robert Coulter MLA, congratulated the organisers on their decision to plan and hold the Fair, thereby giving the public the opportunity to obtain important information on a wide range of health and fitness matters.

As Health Spokesman for his party at the Assembly, Mr Coulter said he believed it vital that people of all ages keep abreast of health and well-being issues.

The Action Cancer Big Bus proved particularly popular at the Fair and was fully booked throughout its stay at the Ballymena North Centre which, say the organisers, proved an excellent venue with superb facilities.

It has been pointed out that while there was disappointment amongst some attenders over the absence of an Iridology service, offering specialist eye examinations, which had been scheduled for the day, there are plans to bring this to another event in early autumn.

The Health and Well-being Fair, which was supported by Ballymena Borough Council, was also the venue for the launch by Deputy Mayor, PJ McAvoy, of the Council’s Book of Condolence and Remembrance for the victims of the Polish air disaster which those in attendance were subsequently invited to sign and they did so in large numbers.

“The Fair was a great success,” said Herbie Park,” adding, “it was such a success that it may well be repeated.

“I would like, on behalf of the organisers, to thank all those who helped in any way with the Fair - the exhibitors, those who attended, the Ballymena North Centre staff, Ivy Ridge and Ballymena Inter Ethnic Forum and Colum Best and the Dunclug Partnership,” he said.
