Hightown incinerator plan '˜still top of community's list of issues'

The local authority held discussions ‘in committee’ about arc21’s move to appeal the Environment Minister’s decision denying its application for an energy from waste plant development at Hightown Quarry.

The council has previously claimed that arc21 has “no authority” to take the matter to the Planning Appeals Commission.

While the council hasn’t revealed what exactly was discussed or decided at the meeting regarding arc21’s appeal, Colin Buick, chair of the NoArc21 campaign group, said it was important for the objectors to stress to councillors that the incinerator is “still top of the local community’s list of issues.”
