Hijack and robbery
Police in Foyle are investigating the hijacking of a silver coloured VW Passat around 10. 15am this morning, Monday, July 9, and the subsequent armed robbery of a local post office in the Culmore road area.
Two males hijacked the vehicle in the Sandbank Coattages area of Shantallow and then drove to the Post office. They threatened staff and robbed the safe of a sum of money. The vehicle has been abandoned on the Coney Road and police and ATO will exam it shortly. The Cooney Road will be closed for the next few hours. There are no further details at present.
