Hillhall Road watermain replacement ‘progressing well’

NI WATER has confirmed that work is progressing well on a watermain replacement on the Hillhall Road.

It is expected that this work will be completed by November 9, 2012. The work forms part of an overall £3.5million investment in the watermains infrastructure in the Lisburn area.

The Hillhall Road will be closed from 8pm each evening (Sunday-Thursday each week) until 6am the following morning to reduce disruption to residents and the travelling public. Suggested diversion routes as usual are via Drumbeg/Ballyskeagh Road and these will be signposted. Access will also be maintained for residents at all times.

In recent years, there have been several bursts on the old watermain, which has resulted in problems with the local water supply and time-consuming repairs which cause delays for the travelling public.

Once complete, this project will reduce the number of bursts on the road and will be good news for the local area as the upgraded watermains will improve the reliability of the water supply, drinking water quality and will also help reduce leakage.

NI Water and its contractor Lagan Construction would like to thank local residents and road users for their co-operation and patience throughout this essential improvement work.

There is likely to be some traffic disruption in the area due to the road closure and increased traffic on other routes.

There may also be some unavoidable construction noise as the work progresses along the road but we would like to assure customers that every effort will continue to be made to keep disruption and noise to a minimum. All diversions will be clearly signposted.
