Hillsborough company set to create 120 jobs

A multi million pound Hillsborough energy company due to open next year is set to create up to 120 jobs, according to its directors.

Avodah Renewable Energies based at the Comber Road was visited by the First Minister Peter Robinson and Brenda Hale MLA recently, to see first hand the Anerobic Digestion plant.

Renewable energy is an important means of reducing the emission into the atmosphere of greenhouse gases.

The plant will initially create ten new jobs, but the build will create and maintain up to 30 jobs while the £30m investment and further £27m earmarked from Assured Energy will create and maintain 80 jobs.

Mr Robinson and Mrs. Hale MLA visited their their Anaerobic Digestion plant in Hillsborough earlier this month.

Avodah’s £3m investment has helped to create and maintain construction related jobs.

Renewable energy is an important means of reducing the emission into and when complete it will help seize the benefits of this renewable technology which can help Avodah make savings by reducing running costs in the long term.

Directors of Avodah stated, “While the Northern Ireland farming community are consolidating due to the challenging economic climate we are are confident that making this investment will be very beneficial not only to ourselves but to the local farming community, through diversification.”

The 500kw plant will use the anaerobic process to produce renewable energy from animal slurry and energy crops via a combined heat and power generator (CHP Unit) to power their pig farm, with surplus energy being sold back into the grid.

The by-product, organic digestate, will be land-spread back onto farm land 
as a bio-fertiliser.

Delegates from NIE, financiers Assured Energy and technology supplier AgriKomp were also present at the visit of the First Minister.
