Hillsborough men share ploughing tips in Africa

TWO members of Hillsborough Ploughing Society were part of a team who flew to South Africa recently to introduce world style competition ploughing to the locals. Ronnie Coulter and David Gill were joined by William Hood from Ballymena and Andrew Mitchell Junior from Scotland. They spent 10 days demonstrating their skills at the Nampo Agricultural Show.

Ronnie explained that South Africa wants to join the world ploughing championships and they were delighted to go over to promote ploughing. He said: “We had a good time and some of the candidates showed a bit of promise by the time we were leaving.

“The ground was hard but it was fertile land and we all had a good time.”
