Hillsborough woman is now super slim

A Hillsborough slimmer who decided to give Slimming World a second chance has not only lost over a stone in weeks but is getting ready to become a granny for the first time.

Dawn Johnston lost weight with her local Slimming World group in Hillsborough and dropped 1st 7lbs in just 13 weeks.

Dawn had been unhappy about her weight joined Slimming World in August.

She had joined before but gave it up and even went to her doctor about considering private weight surgery. 
It was then that she decided to re-join her nearest Slimming World group in Hillsborough.

She almost did not make it. She went for a 5.30pm session but was too scared to join then returned to go back again for the 7.30pm session.

“I had been a member before and the plan had changed,” she said. “At the time I didn’t give the then New Extra plan a chance and let myself slip into bad habits.

“After an afternoon at the theatre with my friend I decided it was that evening, the 5.30pm session that I would join. As I drove to the venue I just couldn’t go in and I drove on home. I felt awful and got back in the car, used all the strength I had and went back to the 7.30pm session. It was the best decision I have ever made.”

“I know a lot of people worry about joining a slimming club because they don’t know what to expect. But from the minute I walked into Slimming World, the support I’ve received from my consultant Linda and the rest of the group has been brilliant,” adds Dawn.

The 48-year-old follows Slimming World’s Food Optimising eating plan, which encourages slimmers to fill up on healthy everyday foods like fruit and veg, lean meat and fish, pasta, potatoes, rice and pulses without having to weigh or measure.

She says: “I just can’t believe how easy it is to food optimise and follow the Extra Easy plan. It is what it says on the tin, extra easy, I have learnt to make choices that are right for me, I love a cooked breakfast, bacon, eggs, beans tomatoes, mushrooms and on these cold autumn nights I really enjoy heartwarming soups. I still enjoy my chocolate biscuits as part of the plan, so I am losing weight and not missing out! “
