Brenda Hale MLA has welcomed the 'inward economic investment and job creation' by Historic Royal Palaces.

The Lagan Valley MLA was speaking at a welcome and information session held at Stormont Parliament buildings by the charity.

Historic Royal Palaces is an independent charity that looks after the Tower of London, Hampton Court Palace, the Banqueting House, Kensington Palace, Kew Palace and Hillsborough Castle.

The charity used the meeting to explain what Historic Royal Palaces have accomplished since they acquired the Hillsborough Castle on April 1.

They also outlined their current plans for development and the future.

This includes plans for a new car park, coffee shop and the renovation of existing features.

Speaking at the meeting Brenda Hale MLA praised Historic Royal Palaces, she said that “the inward economic investment and job creation is to be welcomed”.

The meeting was an opportunity to possibly widen their customer base and improve confidence in the charity for future, and current supporters.

Spokesperson for Historic Royal Palaces, Patricia Corbett said that the charity were “Making a difference in Northern Ireland’s Economy” and how it was “important to everyone in Northern Ireland”.

Patricia claimed that they expect to welcome “200,000 visitors in 2019.”

She outlined plans to build a new car park, coffee shop, and renovate existing features. She also explained that whilst it will undergo continuous improvement, a majority of plans will finish by 2019.
