Historical Society to look at railways past and present

FRED Cooper from Portadown has had a life-long interest in local railways and was one of the very few people owning and using a cine camera way back in the early 1950s, to capture the now ‘lost age of steam’

These tapes have been transferred to disc format and both he and Mr Charles Friel MBE, a leading figure in the Railway Preservation Society of Ireland, will give a powerpoint presentation at the next meeting of Banbridge Historical Society.

So, if you are interested in recapturing memories of some of the railways around the area, or eager to learn of them, then you are very welcome to attend.

This meeting will be held in Banbridge Old Town Hall, Scarva Street, on Thursday, April 4, at 7.30pm and visitors are welcome
