Cushendall left the Loughgiel players and fans stunned as they hit the net with 8 seconds on the clock. This was to be the one & only stage in the game that the men from the glens would lead the shamrocks, who quickly clawed back the lead with a series of quick fire points. From there the shamrocks never lost the lead again & scored a vital goal before half time much to the delight & applaud of the huge shamrock support.
Torrential rain halted the commencement of the second half & contined to fall when the ref blew his whistle to restart the game.

The lads dug deep & continued to play at a frenetic pace on a very wet & unforgiving pitch.

In the closing stages of the game the blend of youth & experience on the Loughgiel team proved to be just to good for the Dall.

A solid performance all round from full forward to the last line of defence saw the mighty men from the shamrocks get over the line & reclaim the Volunteer Cup for the 20th time in the clubs history. On the full time whistle Pairc MacUilin was invaded with an army of red & white as the Loughgiel supporters took to the field to celebrate with their heroes.
A great day and another that will go down in the history books of Loughgiel Shamrocks GAC.
Well done lads #UTS #2016Champions
