History created in Rasharkin Church

History was created in Rasharkin Presbyterian Church on Sunday evening, 27th May, when five new Ruling Elders were Ordained and Installed, by a Commission of the Presbytery of Ballymena.

The names of the new Elders being, Mr Ivan Anderson, Mr David Calderwood, Mr John Finlay, Mr Stewart McMaster and Mr Adrian Moody.

The Service was conducted by the Moderator of Presbytery, Rev C K McDowell, Scripture Reading by Rev J C Simms, Minister of Rasharkin, and the Scriptural Warrant for the Eldership by Mr Lyle Cubitt, Clough Presbyterian Church and a member of the Commission. The Standards of the Church including the Rule of Faith were given by the Acting Clerk, Rev J C Simms.

Congregation singings consisted of the Hymns, Immortal, Invisible, God only wise, How lovely is Thy dwelling place, Church of God beloved and chosen and O Jesus I have promised to serve Thee to the end.

The Church Choir rendered an Anthem entitled, O Breath of God.

The offering was in aid of The Students` Bursary Fund.

A challenging and inspirational charge to the Elders and the People was given by the Rev K McConnell, Clough Presbyterian Chuch and another member of the Commission. In this he highlighted the high Spiritual Call of the Eldership, that it was a gracious and affectionate call, and the need to be God`s watchmen, to shepherd the flock and to safe guard the Truth of the Word of God.

The meaningful Service concluded with the Benediction.

Afterwards all were served to a generous supper in the Church Hall.
