History lesson for WI

MEMBERS of Coleraine Women's Institute were treated to a little bit of history at their recent meeting.

The special guest was the well known local historian, Alec Blair, who gave an interesting and humorous insight into the life and writings of the Bard of Tyrone, W F Marshall, a long serving minister at Castlerock Presbyterian Church and a prolific writer, poet and broadcaster.

At the meeting, Vice President Kathleen Presha, congratulated the quiz team for their effort at the Area Quiz.

Kathleen reminded members that next month’s meeting with be a dinner, at Portstewart Golf Club.

The ‘little bit of Ireland’ competition winners were Mabel Hartin, Caroline Carr and Caroline Kimber.

After a delicious supper, the evening ended with the singing of A Country Woman's Song.
