History talk for Probus members

Edward Montgomery of The Honourable The Irish Society was the guest speaker at the Probus Club last week.

Members heard about the history of the charity organisation which was first created by Royal Charter in 1613.

Mr Montgomery also told members about the projects the charity supports now. Members heard how the Society had been involved in building properties such as Culmore Primary School, the Guildhall and of course our local treasures the Townhall and The Irish Society Primary School.

The fascinating and most informative talk drew to its conclusion and members got the chance to ask questions.

The vote of thanks was very aptly proposed by Cecil Leitch who was for many years, the distinguished Principal of the Irish Society Primary School.

Cecil in his usual eloquent manner congratulated Edward on his talk, which had been so informative and entertaining, recalling his own memories of his time spent at such an historic school.

The vote of thanks was duly passed on by the President Graham Kane.
