Penny has a wealth of knowledge of both the historical role of the Company – with its links to mid-Ulster that go back to the 17th century – and also of the role that it continues to play in the modern City of London.

She was able to give valuable assistance to the Society in preparing its most recent publication, ‘Maps of the Estate of the Drapers’ Company 1857-1858”, which was launched locally in May.

The meeting will be held in the Conference Room of the former Plantation Centre at 50, High Street, Draperstown (green door beside the new Library building), which is now the regular venue for Historical Society meetings.

It will begin at 8pm on Tuesday November 4th, and as usual all visitors are very welcome to attend. Light refreshments will be served.

Ballinascreen Historical Society is also planning to establish a permanent photographic archive and would like to invite those attending future meetings to consider bringing with them old photographs of life in the district.

These would be scanned and returned immediately, and some could form part of a future publication.
