'˜Hit man when he was on the ground'

A Lisburn man involved in a fight with another male has been sentenced to one month in custody.

Gavin Warr (30), of Pond Park Road, Lisburn admitted charges of assault and using disorderly behaviour, which occurred on March 17.

The court heard that CCTV operating in Lisburn reported two males fighting outside a local bar.

When police arrived they noticed a number of males but no fight, both males were located close by.

It was added that the two males had been fighting and Warr had hit the other man whilst he was lying on the ground. A defending solicitor told Lisburn Magistrates Court that the CCTV footage clearly showed the incident.

He said: “The CCTV is clear, both were giving as good they got. There is no ongoing animosity between them.”

District Judge Mark Hamill highlighted the fact that it was suggested Warr had assaulted the other male when he had fallen on the ground.

The defendant appeared via videolink as he was serving another sentence, Judge Hamill imposed a one month sentence for each offence in this case.
