HML staff will know of changes, if any, in good time

Stock specialist, Computershare, says it will make a timely announcement to staff if any other sites are affected by an operational review, which has resulted in the proposed closure of HML in Glasgow.

A spokesperson for the firm, which owns the HML operation in Londonderry, told the Sentinel: “Like any business, we regularly review our operational footprint to make sure it is fit for purpose.

“A recent review has led to the decision to propose the closure of our Glasgow office, and we are currently consulting with colleagues about this proposal. “We will always make timely announcements to employees should any other site be affected, but at this time hope that colleagues around the group will focus on giving the team in Glasgow their support.”

A concerned worker has told the Sentinel that staff at HML’s Branch Road site fear their jobs could be under threat.

The worker said they believed the closure of Glasgow will result in rationalisation of services at Computershare’s office in Doxford.

“HML have not been able to give any reassurances to the Derry operation of any future work to be moved to the Derry office and have only said that, ‘At this time there is no planned redundancies in Derry,’” they warned.
