Hockey gear wanted for Ugandan kids

HOCKEY ace Natalie Barr is counting down the weeks until she heads off to Uganda to coach under privileged children.

The 19-year-old hockey champ is urging everyone to help out by donating equipment for the coaching trip.

Natalie is going out to Uganda where her inspirational late sister Charlene helped raise funding for a new school.

She is travelling to the African country in June, however, she is hoping to send over all the hockey equipment by air freight in a couple of weeks time so they it will be there when Natalie arrives to coach the kids.

She said: “We hope that the hockey will not only be fun for the children but the visit will give a little bit of hope to the children.”

Natalie played hockey at Ulster and Ireland U16 and U18 level.

If you have hockey sticks, shin, pads, shoes, socks or anything else sport related please donate it to Charlene’s Project. This equipment will be used in the summer and will make a difference in the lives of these children.

Equipment can be left at Buttered Up, 6 Windsor Avenue, Lurgan. For more information, contact Janice on 07709 806 418.
