Hogg welcomes play park progress

MACEDON councillor Thomas Hogg has welcomed the start work on the new children’s play area in the Rushpark estate.

Newtownabbey Borough Council was criticised by residents in the area after the old play park, located on land sold by the local authority for a social housing project, was closed just before the school holidays at Easter. However, at that time council officials gave an assurance that a new state-of-the-art play park would be constructed nearby within a matter of months.

Work on the £75,000 project finally got under way on Monday, July 23, with the development due to be completed before the end of August.
