Homeless at Christmas!

WHILE we were all enjoying our festive celebrations, this poor little dog (left) was left sitting in the pound waiting for a good home.

The male black retriever collie cross - which is believed to be aged between three and six - was found on Landhead Street last month and has since spent Christmas and New Year behind bars.

"He's a really lovely dog, very friendly and well behaved. It's upsetting to see him sitting there with these big sad eyes looking up at you. It's never nice for an animal to be homeless but to not have a loving family at Christmas time is even more heart-rendering," said Environmental Warden Karen Mitchell.

"When we found him he was quite heavy and wasn't starving so he's obviously been well looked after. He's also very clean and I'm sure whoever owns him is missing him - so please come forward."

Karen said she would also like to hear from anyone willing to give the animal a home.

"Ideally we want to return it to its owner but if that isn't possible then we'd urge anyone who could offer a great dog a good home to get in touch," she said.

"He really is a wee darling and deserves to start the New Year with people who love him."
