Hope Centre remembers victims of addiction

PEOPLE in the borough who have lost their lives due to addiction will be remembered at a very special event being held tomorrow evening, March 24, at the Ecos Centre.

Organised by The Hope Centre and sponsored by the Northern Drugs and Alcohol Co-ordination Team, the “Hope and Remembrance” evening, which starts at 7pm, will have many fitting and touching features as a tribute to those who have passed away.

A one-minute silence will be held for ‘Hope’ - that those still in the midst of addiction may enter into recovery safely, and hope for those who are already in recovery.

And to ‘Remember’ - those that have lost their lives due to addiction - a book of Hope and Remembrance will be launched and used year after year, giving people the chance to sign it and write short messages.

Anybody that has lost a family member or friend due to addiction is invited to come along and show their support.

The evening will also feature a song by guest singer, Claire Martin; the opportunity to write a short message on ribbon which will be tied to aRemembrance Tree; and the chance to light a floating Chinese candle which will be laid on the Ecos pond.

Also, two large sky lanterns - one symbolising hope, the other symbolising remembrance, will be released.

Light refreshments will be served during the evening at which all events are free of charge.
