Hope for Millbay Inn

A RAY of hope has emerged this week in the ongoing battle to preserve the last pub in Islandmagee.

As reported exclusively in the Larne Times, a number of residents launched a campaign to save the historic Millbay Inn after its owner lodged an application with planners to have the building knocked down and replaced with a residential development.

The campaign, called Save the Last Pub in Islandmagee, has gathered over 130 signatures, with lobbyists claiming the loss of the pub would have a devastating impact on the rural community.

However, in light of the strength of opposition to the plans, councillors managed to persuade the Planning Service to hold fire on a decision until an office meeting could be held, allowing residents to voice their grievances.
