Hot-food van damaged

Police are keen to see speak to anyone who saw anything suspicious, particularly between 9.30pm and 10pm, when the van was broken into through the roof. Nothing was stolen but some damage was caused inside.

* Between lunchtime on Monday March 5 and lunchtime on Wednesday March 7 aluminium and also a copper cylinder was stolen from inside and outside a house at Glenstall Road, Ballymoney. Police believe a vehicle like a van or a car with a trailer would have been needed.

* In the early hours of Friday March 9 a 52-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of driving with excess alcohol at Fivey Road. She was released on police bail to return to a Police Station on March 27.

* A man, (22), was arrested in the early hours of Friday March 9 at John Street in connection with an alleged assault on a female and was bailed to March 23.

* A burglary has taken place at a house at Fivey Road. Some time between 1pm and 3.30pm on Friday March 9 a downstairs window was forced and after entry was gained to the house an amount of cash was stolen.

* A 21-year-old man was arrested on Friday night (March 9) in Ballymoney for an alleged breach of bail conditions and an alleged assault on a police officer. He was released on bail to return to a Police Station on March 15.

* Police are urging the public to be careful of internet fraud following an online application for a loan by a man from the Ballymoney area in which a fee was paid but it appears he was the victim of a crime.

Inspector David Anderson said: “Don’t be fooled by unfamiliar websites or online offers and people should be extremely cautious before disclosing details online, particularly when money is involved.

“There are a number of online scams evolving and members of the public should never pay out money or give personal details to any company without verifying that they are genuine.

“People also be cautious about sending money or cheques to unknown people as a result of an internet transaction. If it seems too good to be true then it usually is,” said Inspector Anderson.
