House damaged

Between 7.30pm and 9.30pm on Tuesday 9th August, a glass panel in the rear door of a dwelling house in the Dundarave Estate, Bushmills, was broken; the bathroom window of the same property was broken between 6 pm and 10 pm on Wednesday 10th August; and between 7 pm and midnight on Friday 12th August, the window in the back door was smashed.

Kayak stolen

On Friday 12th August, police received a report that a blue single seat kayak was stolen from the front of property at Dunseverick Harbour. The kayak had been chained to a wall when it was stolen.

House theft

Over night on Friday 12th August/Saturday 13th August, a break-in occurred at a vacant house on Layde Road, Cushendall. The front door was smashed and the water tank, copper piping and some electrical items were stolen. Water damage was also caused to the house.

Car stolen

On Saturday 13th August, at approximately 1.40pm, a red Citroen Xsara was stolen from the Shore Steet area of Cushendall. The vehicle was located an hour later on the Middlepark Road. Enquiries continuing.

‘Drinking den’

Police have received a report that youths are using the derelict St. Patrick’s and St. Brigid’s Primary School building on Moyle Road, Ballycastle, as a “drinking den”. Three windows were discovered broken on Saturday 13th August. A bicycle which was later reported stolen from the Bayview Road area and a mobile phone were recovered in the property. Enquiries are continuing to identify the youths using the building.

Man arrested

At 6.20am on Sunday 14th August, a 38-year-old man with a Cushendun address, was arrested at Main Street, Cushendun, on suspicion of Criminal Damage, Assault Occasioning Actual Bodily Harm and Possession of an Offensive Weapon following an incident when two windows of a property on Main Street were smashed and all the windows of a Vauxhall car at the property were smashed with a hurley bat. A female occupant of the house was allegedly punched in the face. The arrested man has been released on police bail to 7th September.

Alleged theft

Police are continuing investigations into the alleged theft of a boat in Cushendall on Sunday 14th August. Later two male youths got into difficulty in the sea and were rescued by the Coastguard.

Ransacked

Between Saturday 6th August and Sunday 14th August, a burglary occurred at a vacant house at Layde Road, Cushendall. The house has been ransacked but it has not yet been confirmed what was stolen in the burglary. Enquiries continuing.

Bushmills arrest

On Sunday 14th August, an 18-year-old Bushmills man was arrested on suspicion of theft. A search was also carried out of his home in the Dundarave area of Bushmills. The arrested mn has been released on police bail to 12th September.
