Householders warned to be vigilant after Hamiltonsbawn incident

A local man discovered a combination lock on a gate on a laneway leading to his property had been marked in an apparent effort to reveal the combination

He said: “Seems there are burglars targeting in the Hamiltonsbawn area - noticed that someone had marked our lane gate combination lock with crayon while it was open yesterday,

“I noticed the 4334 sequence (now changed) had a red line down it this morning, obviously to gain entry when it is closed presuming no one is at home.”

He said the would-be thieves had marked the lock rather than note the combination because they would not want to carry incriminating evidence such as a code written down.
