Houses bound for vacant village library site

THE former library premises on Ahoghill’s Brook Street look set to become home to six general needs semi-detached houses, councillors have heard.

At last Thursday night’s Public Sector Liaison Committee meeting of Council in The Braid, the application by Apex Housing Ltd. to demolish the vacant library and erect the new homes was scheduled for ‘refusal’.

However, members were told by Planner Cathy McKeary that additional information and amended plans had been received by the Department which could lead to its approval.

Welcoming that news, Cllr Roy Gillespie said: “It would be good to see this moved on”.
