Housing Executive hosts 'spooktacular' event in Magherafelt

Residents from the Killowen area of Magherafelt were treated to a spooktacular Halloween event by Northern Ireland Housing Executive.

The Killowen Residents Group hosted a Halloween festival and family-friendly bonfire for the local community, which a spokesperson for NIHE said had a lively atmosphere.

They also commended residents for the "great deal of effort they put into decorating their homes" as well as pumpkin carving and dressing up in fancy dress.

As well as fireworks and a bonfire and the residents group also put on some hot food and drinks on the "not too chilly night".

Declan McAllister from the Housing Executive said: "The team in the Housing Executive was delighted to support this initiative which is investing in the local community. The group put on a terrific Halloween event making everyone feel welcome which is helping to foster the vibrant community in Killowen."

Karina Murray of Killowen Residents Group added: "Our Halloween celebration built on the success of previous years where we’ve had a lot of positive feedback from the community. I’d like to thank the Housing Executive for their support of our Halloween event – it’s the largest one we have ever hosted – which was so successful. So roll on next year for bigger and better!"
