Housing Executive work continues

IN recent weeks the Housing Executive has awarded contracts that will see investment of almost £2.5m in Coleraine homes.

The three contracts include 100 new kitchens in Millburn, 148 new heating systems in the Heights and planned maintenance for 269 Ballysally homes.

District Manager Gerry McCloskey has referred to this considerable investment as a welcome boost for tenants in Coleraine. He said:

“This range of work is clear evidence, in practical terms, of the Housing Executive’s commitment to its tenants in Coleraine.

“New kitchens at Millburn are designed for modern living, with tenants selecting finishes for the units, work surfaces and tiles from a range of options to suit their personal taste. This work also includes upgrading electrical and plumbing services in the kitchens, as well as installing or upgrading smoke detectors.

“At the Heights, the gas heating systems replacing older inefficient systems in homes are fully programmed and installed to the highest specification so providing maximum efficiency and economical running costs for tenants. The systems are easy to use, with heating and hot water at the press of a switch.

“Our work programmes are also continuing in Ballysally, where the latest contract involves external maintenance for properties in the Ballygallin/ Elms/ Loughanhill part of the estate as well as maisonettes in Glebe Avenue and Tullyarton Road, Harpers Hill.

“This contract, just awarded, will include replacing defective window frames with double glazed units, servicing and repairing others. The Housing Executive will also take the opportunity to carry out general external repairs that are needed as well as repainting the properties.”
